Kelly Abernethy LMSW, is a Licensed Masters Social Worker with over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist, personal trainer, advocate and wellness specialist. Kelly practices therapy with individuals and couples using a collaborative, holistic and insight oriented approach. She provides a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to explore feelings, circumstances and conflicts impeding their sense of efficacy and wellness. Kelly views clients as the experts of their own experience and empowers them to find their voice, think outside the box and reach their goals. As a social worker she breaks from traditional psychology’s focus on the individual, instead viewing client issues through systemic and social justice lenses. In addition to general practice Kelly specializes in working with individuals and couples going through transitions including divorce, breakups, blending families, trauma and loss as well as entering new stages of life. She also has extensive experience and passion for health and wellness, body image, disordered eating and women’s issues.

Assessment consists of a Clinical face-to-face, in-person interview and collateral interviews with significant others. A psychosocial history is obtained to include presenting problem, including a discussion of pertinent and detailed information describing contributing factors, incidents and issues that precipitated assessment.
